Educational Video + Online Quiz
We partnered with Monash University’s Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science, to produce an explainer video and interactive online quiz to help prospective students choose the right course for them.
The brief
Monash University found that prospective students don’t always clearly understand the difference between a Bachelor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science, or the career pathways that come from either course.
Monash University approached Tundra to develop an explainer video and interactive online quiz to help students understand the difference between the two courses, and decide which one is best for them to enrol in.
What we did
Establishing the Visual Style
After aligning on key messaging, we developed a cohesive visual style to unify both the animated video and interactive quiz. Through a series of moodboards, we refined a direction that felt distinctly our own while integrating seamlessly with Monash’s existing brand ecosystem.
Storyboarding + Illustration
With the visual direction approved, we translated the script into a detailed scene-by-scene storyboard, carefully considering composition, character expression, transitions and pacing.
We then created a full suite of custom illustrations, including two central characters and a range of supporting elements. The characters were designed to celebrate Monash’s diverse student body, with a simple, approachable aesthetic that could flex across scenes. Colour, form and styling were developed in line with Monash brand guidelines to ensure consistency.

Voiceover + Animation
We recorded voiceovers in-house with Monash students to enhance authenticity, capturing multiple takes for flexibility in post-production.
Once illustrations and audio were complete, we brought the narrative to life in After Effects. Characters were carefully rigged for natural movement, and subtle animation was balanced with dynamic transitions to maintain clarity, energy and engagement. The final result was an educational piece that felt accessible, considered and easy to follow.
Quiz Design + Development
Alongside the video, we designed and developed an interactive quiz to help students explore course pathways aligned to their interests.
We presented multiple design directions before landing on a solution that aligned with Monash’s digital brand, while incorporating illustration elements from the animation to create visual continuity.
The quiz, consisting of an introduction, 11 questions and a results page, was built in NextJS, with responses securely stored in Firebase. It was translated into five languages and developed to meet accessibility standards, ensuring an inclusive and seamless experience when embedded into the Monash website.
Impact of the work
The final result is an engaging, on-brand quiz and video animation, custom designed for a school leaver audience, which will help increase clarity among their users and drive enrolments. In the first month after launch, the quiz submissions exceeded expectations, and this was only from featuring the quiz and video on the faculty homepage, prior to any specific promotional or marketing activities.
As a further benefit, Monash Pharmacy has a fresh new suite of custom illustrations to leverage in future marketing efforts.
Designing the two main characters was a highlight. We wanted them to feel relatable and expressive, while keeping the style simple enough to move seamlessly across different scenes.
